Tokyo Disney Resort

Ah yes, Tokyo Disney Resort – it seemed so long ago. My husband and I quickly became obsessed with Disney vacations after our first trip together in 2012. In April 2017 we decided to vacation at Toyko Disney Resort and experience our first Disney vacation overseas. Let me tell you, I can’t wait to go again!

Tokyo Disney Resort consists of two theme parks: Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. There are four hotels: Tokyo Disneyland Hotel, Disney Ambassador Hotel, Tokyo DisneySea Hotel and Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel. In addition there are many resort partner hotels and good neighbor hotels.

As DVC members, we were able to use points to book our resort stay. We also had rewards miles that we were able to use for one flight. In the end, our vacation was very affordable because of this.

You might be thinking, what makes Tokyo Disney Resort different than Disney Parks in the US? Yes, Disney parks around the world have some of the same classic attractions that the US parks do with their own slight differences or nuances. We experienced Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, It’s A Small World, Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain located all at Tokyo Disneyland Park. At the DisneySea Park we were able to experience their version of Tower of Terror and Toy Story Mania. We also got to ride  the attractions that are unique to Tokyo Disney like Journey to the Center of the Earth, Raging Spirits, and Aquatopia. I’m not sure if it was because it was pouring rain and we decided to go on Aquatopia anyway (one of the only riders) but I had such a great time. Who goes on a watercraft ride when it’s raining? Tourists.

Other things that made Tokyo Disney unique and fun were the characters. We were able to see so many characters walking around the parks, including more rare ones. We were able to experience the Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade. I’ve been fortunate to see both the Main Street Electrical Parade and the Paint the Night parade in the US and Disney light parades are my favorite! Hundreds of thousands of lights make it an unforgettable experience.  Lastly, the one thing I loved about Tokyo Disney was the food! They love flavored popcorn and I was able to purchase the cutest Dumbo popcorn bucket. All the food there is fun! I even had a burger in the shape of Mickey!

I really want to go back to Tokyo Disney and experience it again. My husband and I have a goal to visit all Disney theme parks around the world! Someday we will reach our goal!
