Tokyo Disney Resort

Ah yes, Tokyo Disney Resort – it seemed so long ago. My husband and I quickly became obsessed with Disney vacations after our first trip together in 2012. In April 2017 we decided to vacation at Toyko Disney Resort and experience our first Disney vacation overseas. Let me tell you, I can’t wait to go again!

Tokyo Disney Resort consists of two theme parks: Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. There are four hotels: Tokyo Disneyland Hotel, Disney Ambassador Hotel, Tokyo DisneySea Hotel and Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel. In addition there are many resort partner hotels and good neighbor hotels.

As DVC members, we were able to use points to book our resort stay. We also had rewards miles that we were able to use for one flight. In the end, our vacation was very affordable because of this.

You might be thinking, what makes Tokyo Disney Resort different than Disney Parks in the US? Yes, Disney parks around the world have some of the same classic attractions that the US parks do with their own slight differences or nuances. We experienced Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, It’s A Small World, Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain located all at Tokyo Disneyland Park. At the DisneySea Park we were able to experience their version of Tower of Terror and Toy Story Mania. We also got to ride  the attractions that are unique to Tokyo Disney like Journey to the Center of the Earth, Raging Spirits, and Aquatopia. I’m not sure if it was because it was pouring rain and we decided to go on Aquatopia anyway (one of the only riders) but I had such a great time. Who goes on a watercraft ride when it’s raining? Tourists.

Other things that made Tokyo Disney unique and fun were the characters. We were able to see so many characters walking around the parks, including more rare ones. We were able to experience the Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade. I’ve been fortunate to see both the Main Street Electrical Parade and the Paint the Night parade in the US and Disney light parades are my favorite! Hundreds of thousands of lights make it an unforgettable experience.  Lastly, the one thing I loved about Tokyo Disney was the food! They love flavored popcorn and I was able to purchase the cutest Dumbo popcorn bucket. All the food there is fun! I even had a burger in the shape of Mickey!

I really want to go back to Tokyo Disney and experience it again. My husband and I have a goal to visit all Disney theme parks around the world! Someday we will reach our goal!

Fall time at Walt Disney World

Although early November will always be my favorite time at Walt Disney World, I do enjoy going at different times of the year for the different experiences. Everything from decorations, food, entertainment and of course weather change throughout the year.

The pandemic has caused some changes to my favorite place, however Disney always finds a way to make it magical. Just recently it was announced that Disney After Hours Boo Bash will take place on select nights from August through October for 3 hours after the park closes. This special ticketed event does not require an additional day theme park ticket.

Slightly different than Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, Boo Bash will still have tons of entertainment, fun and food for everyone of all ages. In lieu of the Boo to You Halloween Parade there will be different cavalcades with Mickey and his friends, villains, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Maleficent with the crowd favorite fire-breathing dragon. I really hope they still have the addicting, remains stuck in your head, Boo to You music. Trick or treating will be included and is always a good time. For those that love to take advantage of the limited capacity and shorter waits, 20 attractions will be operating. Included with the ticket are ice cream, popcorn and select beverages located at carts throughout the park. The Halloween decor will be amazing as usual. One of my favorite activities is enjoying some of the select drinks and treats that you can only get for this event. The Cadaver Dans will even make an appearance. Who doesn’t like a Barbershop Quartet that came back from the dead to sing ghoulishly fun tunes? Lastly, this is the only time adults can dress up in the parks as their favorite characters so find the inner kid in you and don you best attire.

As an authorized Disney Vacation Planner, I can get you tickets for this special event. Tickets go on sale June 15, but can be purchased for guests at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels on June 8. So Boo to you and you and you and you, Happy Halloween!

Comfort Food at it’s Finest

Art Smith – can I clone you and bring you home? How can something so simple taste so magical? Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ restaurant in Disney Springs on Walt Disney World property is all you need. The fried chicken is incredible, but I can make a meal with the sides alone. The Mac N Cheese has so much cheesy goodness. The green beans are so fresh and cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes and gravy are… well just the white gravy, can I get that in a gallon jug to go? To make the experience even better, our server Josh was amazing. He was hillarious and made our dining experience entertaining from beginning to end. He even pixie dusted us and gave us a slice of Hummingbird Cake since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Our stomachs were about to explode from all the yummy food, but how can one turn down Art Smith’s famous pineapple-banana cake with cream cheese frosting? The food and service makes it an easy pick to visit again and again. It may be hard to get a reservation as soon as your dining reservation window opens up, especially for dinner. However, on our last visit in May 2021, we had no problem waiting over an hour for a walk-up. There was enough shopping and entertainment to keep us busy in Disney Springs until the restaurant texted us to inform us that our table was ready. Homecomin’ I can’t wait to visit you again and Josh I hope to see you again as well!
